Trusting God

What does it really mean to trust God? Let me help you understand by using the word TRUST as an acronym.

T – for trust…which means that if you are going to trust Him, you have to take Him at His word. Even if it seems like it is not true, you take Him at His word. If we will take Him at His word, He will guide us through the course of life and bring us across the finish line safely. Even when it does not make sense, just trust Him and take Him at His word.

R – for rest. The Bible tells us to rest in the Lord. 1 Peter 5:7 says,Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Do not worry. I read somewhere that worry is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but you don’t get anywhere. I certainly want to get somewhere with God.

U – for understanding. Proverbs 3:5 says, Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. Sometimes things just won’t make sense to your understanding. Make your life joyful by not attempting to understand things your way.

S – stands for speech. Our speech is an expression of our faith. In Mark 11, Jesus said, “Have faith in God.” And then the very next thing Jesus said is,“Whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” Our faith in God is expressed through our speech. You can control the words that come out of your mouth. You do not have to speak or say the things you are worried about. Put a guard over your mouth.

And T- stands for thanksgiving. We offer thanks to God in advance.Philippians 4:6 says, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. When we offer thanks to God, it is an expression of our faith. Make it a habit to thank God for the things you have prayed for. This will give you joy and peace. A grateful heart cannot easily be broken or let down by God.

So friends, let us trust God always.
